John has always had passion for football  since his childhood, John started his own journey with Barnsley. He joined the youth academy system in 2001 when he was just 7 years old. John progressed steadily in the academy and promoted through several age-levels. John came into prominence during his training time at the youth academy. After 10 years of rigorous training, he finally made it to the first team of Barnsley in 2011.

Barnsley Career (2011)

He entered  his first professional football contract with Barnsley in December 2011. He went ahead to make  his debut for the club in a Championship match against Reading at Oakwell on 17th March 2012 as a substitute. John made his first start for the squad in a League Cup first-round victory against Rochdale on 11th August 2012. Stones made his first league start for Barnsley against Middlesbrough on 18th August 2012.

Everton Career (2013)

Stones entered a five-and-a-half-year contract with Everton on 31 January 2013. The transfer  was reported to be around £3 million that time. He then made his debut for the club in the League Cup second round match against Stevenage on 28th August 2013 at Goodison Park.
